Double Knitting Adventures

Well, I took on a test-knit, mostly because I wanted to learn to double knit and having a dead line would really make me work on it.

So here is my project so far, it is a scarf . . . I know, I know, I don't do scarves, but it's an easy and repetitious way to learn a new technique. I ended up having to start over about 4 or 5 times to get the technique and tension right, but now it is going good.

Content: 100% Acrylic
Care: Machine wash and dry

Needles: US 5

I chose these yarns mainly for there contrast and think that it was a good choice as they really make the pattern stand out.

To answer your question, before you even think of it, yes, I use to love jalapeno poppers and still am attracted to anything that embraces a similar concept. These Grilling Armadillo Eggs is an interesting take on a jalapeno popper!


Coming from Pacific Northwest originally, I am huge fan of fish, especially salmon and this Mustardly Salmon looks and sounds delicious.


There are some frozen food quickies that are missed, even now and Taquitos are one of them, since I cannot have them anymore, these Baked BBQ Pork Taquitos sound like a good substitute.


I love interesting things that seem so simple, I just wouldn't have thought to make like this Blackberry Sage Vinegar or this Spicy Pickled Asparagus.


I am a fan of potato salads in general, but this Tzatziki Potato Salad sounds interesting and unlike anything I have had before. I will be getting the supplies to make this for this upcoming week.


These Grilled Shrimp look super easy and super tasty!

Spiral Shawl test-knit

Well, I am back a little early for two reasons, one I missed blogging and so I can show you this beautiful shawl. My blogging will be sporadic during the summer, but I will still be around.





This is probably the best picture of me with it on and the most likely way it will get worn.








Even Wookie had to investigate to make sure it met his strict standards.


He played guard dog while it blocked too. . . you know all those scary neighbors who might break in to steal a freshly blocked shawl!


I didn't have anything big enough to block it, so I folded it in half and blocked it out on my yoga mat.  I also blocked mine a little more aggressively than the designer, Erica, because I wanted my points, but it definitely could have been blocked harder.

May goal and some time away

Mainly, my goal for the month of May is to figure some things out.  A little bit of where I am going and how I am getting there type of adventure.  Part of that is, not blogging for a while though, I am going to take the month of May off from blogging.  I have a lot I hope to figure out and accomplish in May and I think part of that is taking a step away from blogging for a time.

So I will be back in June and until then, I hope you all have a wonderful time!
