Eddard Sock - 1st Completed

Well, I finished the first sock, which was the requirement for the test-knit. However, I will be finishing the second sock soon, since I like this pattern and want to be able to wear them. I haven't FINISHED a pair of socks for myself in a long time. I have started many and frogged most of them, the others are still on the needles.

Yarn: Wildfoote Luxury Sock Yarn
Color: Blue Blood Red
Content: 75% Wool / 25% Nylon
Care: Machine wash / lay flat to dry
Needles: Knit Picks 47" Circular US 0 / 2mm
Size: Large

Isn't the cable design just lovely?

Because I place the knot work over the ankle, it bunches some at the ankle.

I would love to make the a little taller, but I would need to loose some circumference in my calf or increase some stitches for that.

Here is a shot of the bunches.  It looks significant and if you are going by appearances, it diminishes the pattern, but honestly for fit or comfort, it doesn't really effect anything.

I am enjoying all the cables I am working with. To be honest, I have like 5 socks on the needles right now, so hopefully this second one will get done soon, but it is more likely that it'll take me a little while to finish it. We shall see.

  1. I didn't look after reading the warning in your last post! Love the cabled sock! I should do more socks with cables too.

  3. Hmmm... It will likely be next fall before the Knight wants more house socks, but I hope I remember this pattern!

  4. I wonder if you could reduce the bumpiness with short rows? Adding a little more height in the heel might help. Still, as you said, comfort is the key, and the cables are beautiful. =)
