Last PIF - Pot Holders

Monika . . .If you want to be surprised,
DO NOT LOOK!!!

Well, I really finished these last weekend, but was quite sick this previous week and did not have a chance to take photos or mail them off. I will be hopefully mailing them off tomorrow after I get out of work. I usually use the little machines, so I can use the post office at any time, but I believe to mail out of the US, I would have to see a real person at a counter, which is a little harder to do when I work during most business hours.

Any who, I really enjoyed making them. My sewing is not as great as I would like it to be, I obviously need to practice more. I like how these turned out though.  Both pairs are made with cotton fabrics, green cotton thread, one layer of cotton batting and one layer is insul-bright.

I love the green fabric on the first pair.  The squares are slightly shifted so the overlap a little instead of the seams matching.  I prefer this for two reasons, one, if my seams aren't perfectly aligned, no one can really tell and two I think it gives the blocks more appearance of movement.

Plain gray backing with the green stitching.

I like this pair the most.  I am usually not an abstract or non-objective art lover, but I like these potholders.  I like the different ways of thinking and challenges doing these designs provided.  Plus, I just think they are more dynamic.

I used a few different techniques to construct the design, including sewing the strips right to the batting.

Plain black, you can see the green stitching.

It was very hard for Wookie to patiently wait while I took the other photos, he know it is his duty to be in the pictures with my projects!

I hope Monika enjoys them, even if they are late! :)

  1. I agree. I really like the second set. The color really pops

  2. I really like the black/zigzag ones. I'm also not usually a big fan of abstract design, but it works here, and it really makes the colors pop.
