Irish Shell Bag

Love this bag! I test knitted the small, but am going to knit up some of the large for re-usable shopping bags.

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
Color: BonBon Print
Content: 100% Acrylic
Care: Machine wash and dry
Pattern: Irish Shell in worsted weight.
Needles: US 6 / 4mm
Mods: No mods since it was a test-knit.
Measurements: 11" wide x 7.5" tall (not being stretched)

The V-stitch at the top was a new stitch to me and I love it!

The Brioche Stitch was new to me to, I had heard of it, but never actually done it and it was easier than I thought.

Love how it stays open like a bucket!

Short rows are used to created the wide bottom.  Which sounds complicated in the pattern, but if you just do exactly what the pattern says, it is easy and works out fine.

I put like 10 pears in here and there is still plenty of room.

There are like 10 oranges in here too, love it!

  2. What a great bag!! I still haven't done the brioche stitch (that I recall?) and it's lovely...

  3. That staying-open feature would make it a great knitting bag, too. No worries about it flopping over and tugging on your yarn. Or is it just me that that happens to?
