Trial by colorwork

Okay, as I've been saying I have been wanting to work on some colorwork. I had my mind set on socks, I even had which ones picked out. But honestly didn't feel like adjusting someone's pattern to fit my feet. Colorwork sock do not often have a range of sizes, much less sizes that are large enough for me.

I've also been saying that I wanted to do something Fall themed. So I've decided I'll just design my own socks. It's only a little more work that rewriting a different pattern. So here is one of my trials so far:

Fall Sock 2010

Love the falling leaves! However, I think they are a little too close together. After knitting it up, it just needs more space to look like they are actually falling through the darkness. I think this was a good idea to start this, because it's definitely got my mind going again about crafts. I think this week may have been enough of a lull. Although I will be taking more care not to irritate my shoulder again.

So that was my second attempt, forgot to take a picture of the first one. I have started knitting the cuff for my third attempt and have already recharted the leaves. I am becoming quite good with the stranding of the colors.

  1. Nice! I love colorwork... when someone else does it. I'm going to have to give it another go.

  2. Very nice experiment. The nice thing is, when you design it yourself, you can get exactly what you have in your head. Eventually. which is always a satisfying thing.

  3. I like the color contrast, I don't know I kind of like them that close together.
    Take care
